LPS00116 – LPS 1® Greaseless Lubricant (11 oz. Aerosol)

Available now on the Airparts.aero Marketplace.

Overview

LPS 1® (P/N LPS00116) is a premier, multi-purpose, greaseless lubricant and corrosion inhibitor, specified and approved for use by major airframe and engine manufacturers worldwide. This is a flight-line and MRO essential, engineered to provide a clean, dry, and non-staining lubricating film. Its unique formula quickly penetrates into tight spaces, displaces moisture, and leaves behind a thin, dry barrier that lubricates and protects against corrosion without attracting dust, dirt, or other airborne contaminants. This "greaseless" characteristic makes it the ideal solution for delicate mechanisms and electrical systems where a wet, oily lubricant would cause binding or create an abrasive paste.

With a high dielectric strength and a formulation free of harmful chlorinated solvents or silicones, LPS 1® is safe for use on a wide range of surfaces, including metals, plastics, and paints. From drying out ignition systems to lubricating flight control pulleys, it is a versatile, high-performance chemical tool for ensuring the reliability and longevity of critical aircraft components.

Key Features

  • Aerospace & Mil-Spec Approved: Meets numerous OEM and military specifications, making it a certified and trusted chemical for aviation maintenance.

  • Dry, Greaseless Lubricating Film: Dries fast to leave a thin, non-oily, non-staining lubricating film that does not attract dust, dirt, or grit.

  • Superior Moisture Displacement: Features a low surface tension formula that actively displaces moisture and condensation from surfaces, making it ideal for drying out electrical systems and protecting against corrosion.

  • High Dielectric Strength: With a dielectric strength typically exceeding 30,000 Volts, it is exceptionally safe for use on and around electrical components and circuits (when not energized).

  • Multi-Function Performance: A versatile 4-in-1 product that serves as a lubricant, penetrant, moisture displacer, and corrosion inhibitor.

  • Safe on Most Surfaces: Contains no harmful chlorinated solvents or silicones and is safe for use on metals, paints, and most plastics.

Aircraft Compatibility

  • Universal Aviation Maintenance Application: LPS 1® is a standard MRO chemical used in the maintenance of virtually all classes of aircraft, from single-engine piston to commercial airliners and military jets. It is referenced in the maintenance manuals of manufacturers including:

    • Textron Aviation (Cessna, Beechcraft), Boeing, Airbus, Bombardier, Gulfstream, Piper, and others.

Applications

  • Delicate Mechanisms: The ideal lubricant for lock cylinders, door hinges, small control bearings, pulleys, and cable mechanisms where a wet lubricant would attract dirt and cause jamming.

  • Electrical & Avionics Systems: Safely cleaning and drying ignition harnesses, connectors, circuit breakers, relays, and avionics components (with power off).

  • Moisture Displacement: Drying out electrical systems after washing or exposure to rain.

  • Short-Term Corrosion Protection: Provides a thin, protective barrier for parts and hardware in storage.

  • Penetrant: Helps to free lightly rusted or corroded nuts, bolts, and fasteners.

Why Choose LPS00116?

Using the correct chemical for an aviation application is critical. Applying a heavy, greasy lubricant (like a white lithium grease or a wet-film product) to a lock mechanism or a control cable pulley is a common maintenance error that leads to premature failure. These wet lubricants attract and trap dirt, forming an abrasive slurry that wears out and jams the component. LPS 1® is the professional, OEM-approved solution. Its dry-film technology provides the necessary lubrication and corrosion protection without this harmful side effect. For the clean, long-lasting lubrication of delicate aircraft systems, there is no better or more trusted choice.

The engineering principle behind LPS 1®'s superior moisture displacement is its combination of low surface tension and high specific gravity. The specialized formula has a very low surface tension, which allows it to spread rapidly and penetrate microscopic pores and cracks in a metal surface through capillary action. When it encounters water droplets, which have a high surface tension, the LPS 1® formulation preferentially "wets" the metal surface. Having a higher specific gravity than water and a stronger polar attraction to the metal, it physically gets underneath the water molecules, lifting them off the substrate and forming a continuous, unbroken molecular film. Once the fast-evaporating solvent carrier flashes off, a thin, non-volatile, hydrophobic barrier is left behind. This barrier prevents oxygen and moisture—the essential electrolytes for an electrochemical corrosion cell—from making contact with the metal, effectively stopping corrosion before it can start.

Note: The LPS00116 is a chemical product. Contents are flammable. Use in a well-ventilated area away from ignition sources. Never apply to energized electrical equipment or circuits. Always consult the product's Safety Data Sheet (SDS) for complete handling, storage, and personal protective equipment (PPE) information before use.
